Our research goal is to advance our understanding of the atomic and electronic structure in many kinds of materials. We are exploring the microstructural properties of materials using various electron microscopy techniques.

The epitaxial growth mechanisms and the strain behaviors of heterostructured and nanostructured materials have been studied by using various transmission electron microscopy techniques. Specially, the behavior of misfit dislocations and the atomic distortion in highly-lattice mismatched systems have been observed by using high-resolution scanning and transmission electron microscopy.

Current focal points include dynamic imaging at the atomic scale by adopting various in-situ/Operando electron microscopy techniques. And, we have been trying to understand the interactions between matter and charged particles.
